Chadolbagi - Homestyle Korean Dinner

For my first post, let me share with you one of our latest discoveries for quick, fairly cheap, and yummy Korean dinner. None other than the Chadolbagi -homestyle version!

CHADOLBAGI is a part of beef brisket that is bright and tasty. It can be bought in Korean stores/supermarkets and they are usually cut thinly, and rolled into strips. You can directly cook it without marinating since it has that sweet and fresh beef taste. Yum!

Freshly cut Chadolbagi, 350 pesos for 500 grams

Tonight, we bought 500 grams (half kilo) in the Korean grocery in Alabang, and decided to have it as our dinner. To share, here are the items that you need:

INGREDIENTS:
500 grams chadolbagi
1 big white onion (or more if you want more toppings)
1 clove garlic
sesame oil (can be bought in supermarket)
sugar
red chili paste (can be bought in Korean stores)

Garlic, Onions, and Lettuce
STEPS:
a.) In a pan (preferably Teflon or any non-stick pan), put a tablespoon of sesame oil.
b.) Place the strips of chadolbagi, onions, and garlic. Mix lightly.

Cook the beef, onions, and garlic all together in a nonstick pan
c.) Cook the beef until it turns light brown. If you want to have it slightly roasted, wait for a few more minutes before removing from the pan.
d.) Cook the onions until it turns semi-transparent. It will slightly caramelize resulting to a sweet aroma.
e.) Roast the garlic.

Finally! See the transparent, white onions?
f.) For the sesame dip, mix a tablespoon of sugar with 3 tablespoons of sesame oil.
g.) Get a lettuce, place beef, onions, garlic, place some red chili paste then fold. Dip in the sesame-sugar mixture.

Chili Paste, 135 pesos 1 pack
h.) Eat and enjoy your homestyle Chadolbagi!

Wrap the chadolbagi, garlic, onions, red chili paste in lettuce
This dish is quite healthy, considering that you have tons of protein from the beef, and loads of vegetables from the lettuce, onions, and garlic. This is best served with cold water, or calamansi juice. To complete your Korean dinner, grab some korean ice cream! One of our favorites is Melona Strawberry flavor, 25 pesos!

Melona, strawberry ice cream. Very fine and creamy! Also available in green melon flavor (highly recommended).Banana is not really that delicious.

So there is our Korean dinner adventure. Try it now!
